Space nerd making StellarDrive: a game about building starships to explore the cosmos. You can play an early alpha for free on itch: http://curious-owl-dev.itch.io/stellardrive
I'm currently focused on getting a Steam page up for the game. The next playable build will probably be a demo! Idk when that will be, though.

I'm still actively working on it! I'd love to know what you mean by more developed. What are the top things you would like to see added?

Thanks for sharing! I especially like the corona effect you have. I'll definitely try something like that for the star in my game. It's only a simple sphere with a high emission value right now 😅

That looks AMAZING 😍 do you have resources on how you achieved this effect?

Thanks for sharing. It's a nice feeling to come back and simplify previous code.

I look forward to seeing what you make next :)

Thank you! The planet's rings are set up like a giant carousel where each "track" is a ring segment. These segments are filled with rocks and are rotated in tandem at their proper orbital speed.

There is the occasional clipping at the segments' edges, but it works ok otherwise.

I didn't expect a code sample! That's great. Thank you for sharing.

Ohhh I love how smooth it turned out. I have a ring system with a 1d texture in my game too and I'd love details on how you approached this if you want to share.

I always love finding a solution that looks great while also saving code complexity. It's the best feeling.

I'm glad you found something like that for your game!
