On a chilly Sunday morning seven centuries ago, fires would have been lit in open hearths in the Great Hall providing heat and light.

The smoke would have gone out of high windows and vents in the Great Hall roof.
We are looking at the Great Hall with its large oak framed roof and pine and pitch pine floor. Sash windows are illuminated by early morning light casting bright pools of sunlight on the floor.

Okay here goes for #BirdOfTheDay. These fellas got tired of #paddling and decided to hijack a boat to get things going a little faster. Okay, okay ... I accept disqualification ... but this is one of my favourite photos. Don't normally photograph birds. Still giggle at this one.
