No reason to run down what the team accomplished. The Russians were all professionals in an age when democracies abided by the amateurs only rules of the then Olympics. It was a miracle on ice that the US could throw together a credible team at all. But to win it? No one expected it.

Well you're focused, call up the ADL and ask them if supporting the supporters of the AfD is a good look for the ADL.

And if your Republican Congress declines to approve, what then?

Were the sources speaking in Hungarian-accented English?

One, there is law already on the topic, they just find it more convenient (and more profitable) to demand Congress block all suits. And if they want relief, let them propose and follow rules of conduct to identify, control, and mitigate bad actors using their platforms.

I want some of what you're smoking!

Something could be done about it: repeal 230. Social Media will then spend the money to protect itself from liability with reasonable measures to protect the public.
December 13, 2025 at 1:24 AM
The key is "further." First it relieves malicious actors who do nothing at all to protect the public from all liability. Then it protects the good samaritans from the argument: because you did not have a duty but tried anyway (and failed), you're liable.
December 13, 2025 at 1:18 AM
Repealing 230 frees every person harmed by malicious content to sue for damages. I repeat, every person! That's why Digital media is so afraid of repeal. Lawfare is the only defense we have when government is captured by business.

What anyone doesn't doubt is hardly the stuff of research articles. If it were, why do you doubt that any hominid group, once having captured fire from a natural source, would not be able to maintain it almost indefinitely?

Great choice of font though.

You think either of those two survives Trump's demise? SOP for successful coups -- replace the last guy's loyalists with your loyalists ASAP.

No archaeologist here but the verb is important: using fire vs. making fire (specifically, striking flint against iron pyrite).

I do the equivalent of this whenever I am running short of cash to pay bills -- I send the check to the gas company to the electric company and the check to the electric company to the gas company. Always buys me a couple of days (more, now that we have such crappy mail service).

This is BS. First there is the hypocrisy from Hegseth et al., and then there is this:

www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
I asked the Pentagon about Pete Hegseth's mentor. Then the threats started.
Journalism in the second Trump administration gets personal.

How about this to get you back to your comfort zone:

It is the duty of the Attorney General to prosecute such cases of perjury and contempt of Congress.

Don't hold your breathe waiting for Pammy Jo to do her duty.

All that hate and bile in her is beginning to show in her face.

"Unnamed officials" say what? Trump has only one playbook -- bully anyone he thinks he leverage over. It was the same when Bessent gave Ukr 12 hours to review the development partnership agreement and demand Ukr sign it immediately. Bullying is all this admin knows.

The stupidest thing about Medicare today is that it only covers a single high risk pool -- the elderly! Expand it to everyone, and Medicare then has a sensible risk pool to keep prices under control.

Ok, probably more than you want to read. But the point: not impossible, just hard work.
December 11, 2025 at 5:08 AM
will be inversely related to price to achieve a consistent limited but fair return on investment.

Let insurance companies compete for ASO contracts. The employer-based ins. market is already almost entirely ASO with stop-loss (which a government should not need).

A and B are now mandatory (call it a tax). And a prescription drug benefit. You have some good ideas on getting a cost effective drug benefit so we will put you in charge there. But to help you out: (1) negotiations over price are mandatory and (2) patent protection duration . . .

It took us 70 years to follow Otto Von Bismarck and introduce old age pensions but still Roosevelt got it done. We can do it with health insurance. But here are a few suggestions.

They don't even apply to the Executive Branch when they violate actual laws.
