So glad to be able to read this and also instantly read an anecdote

Turns out all it took was one emergency "the field you thought was an integer was actually a string because it's from a database and your logic, assuming integers, appeared to work in your very rigorous tests but didn't actually in production, under completely different types"

Even if I love/hate it, I still kinda prefer islands tho... Btw have you seen arewedecentralizedyet.online ?

If all the PL folks collectively decide to bridge maybe it might work 🤔
For eg, I like the idea of @ap.brid.gy ; it's nice to interact/reply both ways
Another problem rn is live/explore feeds disabled on some instances - there's a new Bubble timeline thingy that seems nice in theory

Not really a problem but rather an opportunity to deplete tokens faster and nudge more users to get premium+, without ever having to think of debouncing

I think it looks cool (and maybe retro?); nice touch giving shadows behind the boxes too. What/how are you making the web ui? Based on your previous posts I saw the tool itself is in rust so was curious about whether this is plain html/tauri/something else

Oh, I recently saw the recording of your PWLConf talk from a few years ago; it popped up on their fedi bot feed

because while bipartite lanes makes sense, I think it doesn't account for no of items in the cart

Single line registers feel like a hit or miss ime but I haven't really thought about the contributing factors that make them fastest
January 3, 2026 at 4:07 PM
Wait I thought random was faster than back-to-front; imo business class being also fewer in number doesn't affect the overall process; but probably yes for the rest of the half a dozen or so boarding groups
January 3, 2026 at 4:07 PM
Altho I feel like it might be counter-intuitively slower - similar to how random boarding/seats in airplanes are on average better than what most airlines currently do (or something like that)?

Oh so like TSA security/immigration lines at airports? *runs away* 🏃‍♂️

(But hey they can then have their own PreCheck/Global Entry for higher tiers 👀)

There's no way its a coincidence that this post and another related one happened just hours apart

I'm generally a proponent of lower-case-most-of-the-things for stylistic reasons...

except for LaTeX. I need.. I need to know which one you mean.

Congratulations!
Based on your posts in the past year, I thought you were already having fun doing renovations 😅
