A really interesting building, with its arches, recessed and variously coloured brickwork - and then cut through with those huge doors! 😀

The awe inspiring Yerebatan Cistern, in Istanbul, was built by the Romans almost 1500 years ago and has an 80,000 ton storage capacity! 😮 🤩

I enjoyed a visit to the small, but interesting, Norris Museum in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, at the weekend. A few items caught my eye, but particularly this very beautiful and poignant medieval brooch and these fabulous Roman faces 😀

This beautiful bridge in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, dates to the 1420’s. It was damaged by Oliver Cromwell and the Roundheads during the Civil War, hence the differing shapes of the arches - the pointed ones are original and the round ones are earlier 18th century rebuilds.

Well, what a strange and wonderful survival this is…a turf maze dating from 1660! 🤩
It sits in the middle of the very lovely village of Hilton, Cambridgeshire, and was made by William Sparrow, a royalist, to commemorate the restoration of Charles II.
