An American/German in Berlin. Berkeley alum (Go Bears!). Erstwhile Texan. Credo: “There are other forces at work than those of evil. And that is an encouraging thought.”
(Thune would absolutely let an impeachment go through. Johnson obviously not, but all it takes is 2-3 GOP House members in swing districts to resign early before facing reality in November to switch control of the House. Just a rock and roll fantasy, but it isn't beyond the realm of the plausible.)

The only thing that threw me the one time I was in Australia was that bars (pubs in the UK) were called hotels for some reason and beer was served in sizes called middies and schooners.
But the greatest contribution to the English language in my book: "budgie smuggler." That is pure creative talent.

I punted on the Egypt one and just got lucky (blew it the last time). Anything ancient Egypt is 50-50 for me. You can't win with a historical timeline that long.

I mean they weren't exactly cheap in the U.S. either, but here it just seemed exaggerated for what you got. You can get a better burger with table service at lots of places for less than the 25€ or more you would fork over at Five Guys, at least here in Berlin. The novelty seems to have gone by now.

(also if you are in Berlin for the holidays, the Christmas concert with the Swingin' Hermlins is a must. Just phenomenal performances from a family with an interesting East German pedigree.)

I rest my case.

(though this year the start of the U.S. Christmas season and the German Weihnachtszeit line up pretty closely to each other, Thanksgiving was yesterday and 1. Advent is Sunday)
