Even then, that doesn't make Thing B bad. That might make Thing B have weaker value than Thing A or appeal to a different market segment, but it is not bad.

Finally, a goofy thing is "Remix" in Google Messages. You upload a photo and then "remix" it using AI. Anyone in the chat, even iPhone users, can view it. Other Messages users can even remix the same photo. Works in English for Messages users with RCS in the US, UK, AUS, CA, IND, IE, and NZ. 🧵9/9

Another big one is that Call Notes (call recording and summarization baked into the Phone app) is coming to more countries, including Australia, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Japan. This is something a lot of Pixel fans outside the US have wanted! Works on Pixel 9 and up (excluding Pixel 9a) 🧵8/9

The relatively new Pixel VIPs feature is now more powerful than before, pushing your VIPs to priority status within your notifications. This is great news for those of us who are in constant communication with our closest friends and family members. Works on Pixel 6 and up. 🧵7/9

Here's an example of AI put to good use: Scam Detection in Messages! This already works with calls, but now your phone will flag an incoming text if it looks scammy. I love this one! Coming to Pixel 6 and up. 🧵6/9

Related to that previous one (shown in the second screenshot) is your Pixel automatically organizing and silencing lower-priority notifications. Once again, this will be controversial, as who knows what we'll miss? This is coming in December, also for the Pixel 9 and up (excluding Pixel 9a). 🧵5/9

Up next is a slightly controversial one: AI-powered summaries of long chats. If a ton of chatter happens in a group chat, your notification will summarize the discussion so you get the basic gist. Apple tried this, and it went horribly awry. Available on Pixel 9 and up (excluding Pixel 9a). 🧵4/9

Up next is another huge one: Maps on the always-on display! Now, when you're using your phone to navigate, you don't need to drain your battery needlessly by having a full-color screen. Just tap the power button and go into Power Saving Mode. Only works on the Pixel 10 series, for now. 🧵3/9

The first theme pack is a tie-in with Wicked: For Good, which is...whatever...but the core idea of one-click theming on Pixels (Pixel 6 and up) is huge. Themes will change your wallpaper, icons, system sounds, and even add GIFs. I can't wait to see what happens with this when it's NOT a tie-in. 🧵2/9
