Oh yeah, it wouldn't be too far fetched of an idea that ancient Humans would decorate their armor with trophies, and Trolls were the most, perceived, threatening entity.

So humans having big tusks on their armor is a possibility.

They may be ancient Human statues, back when Humans were marauding nomads. Trolls may have also sculpted them after a Titan or Keeper and carved a face as a historical reminder.
That's my guess anyway, as far as them not having tusks.

The miners grew more paranoid the longer they were in the mine, so they eventually started demanding rotations because they were seeing strange shadows that were moving around.

Now I'm going to have to go check, but I'm pretty sure that the Forsaken miners lost their minds but at a much slower rate.
There should be Forsaken NPCs that talk about it at Vengeance Landing, at least during the quests, so some quest text may need some digging through.
