last story, promise - 2 years ago, town turned down the donation of a full scale bronze (related to pic) that a patroness wanted to commission me to execute for a public river setting - they didn't reply for a month, and, when pressed for a reply, said there was "no interest/try again next year"

A fascinating request that I can only accept as an oblique complement - unfortunately, in over twenty years living in Springfield, Vermont, I have been told so often to either "stop trying, Vermonters don't make new friends", or that I am "not expected to accept every invitation", that I know few.

where would you move to, Matt? I thought Vermont would be nicer than it is, but the people are as cold as ice. We think a lot about moving to Spain, but sometimes I think the easiest thing is to just stay here and ignore the cold
