Got a chance to play Gloom for the first time since high school—it’s still one of my favorites. I think it’s the first game that made me question whether there even needs to be distinctions between RPGs and other types of tabletop games.

I’m giving up on the oil painting experiments for now. This one was just acrylic and it turned out way better than any I used oil on. The sword was my first time trying a non metallic metal effect.

I think I’ve figured out how I want armor to work in my heartbreaker. Characters can wear multiple armor pieces—each piece is able to fully or partially negate a limited number of hits the character takes during a fight.

A friend I haven’t played games with in years has taken an interest in Forbidden Psalm, so I put together a quick warband. The grunts are Perry Miniatures mercenaries. The wizard is a kitbash—a Reaper Miniatures ghost, with Perry head and hands.

I’ve been trying to track down a weird 70s (I think) miniature for a while now. It was labeled “kobold” on the eBay listing where I first saw it. The detail was really muddy—it might have been damaged, it might have been a recast of a recast—but this is what I remember it looking like.

For example, if you enter the Domain of the Cliff Dwellers and are attacked by dactyl-bats, here’s how you would resolve that encounter. Each area is half gazetteer, and half scripted gamebook-style adventure.
