OMG I JUST WATCHED THIS VIDEO!!! I found an old BBC reel about a guy who couldn't see the ocean outside his house because of these. I sent it to a bunch of UK friends who were convinced I was having the piss or however you say it. But I was not in fact imbibing any sort of piss.
