If they are having to put this much effort into winning a competitive seat in an Upper South state, where Trump won the white vote by 40 points that cannot bode well for the rest of the country, especially in the Midwest.

At this point, I think they lose just because of how insane they are acting. They are not behaving as if they are in the lead. This feels like Kamala campaigning in Pennsylvania while Trump went to New York to boost his PV margin.

The promise of Trump is that you can be as awful and horrific as you want as long as you kiss the ring. He gives people the clearance to be the worst versions of themselves they always desired to be. He is who his supporters would be if they had money and power to do so.

MAGA as a movement has always been a white-supremacist, neo-Confederate movement. It takes advantage of people's faith, latent bigotry, and desire to assimilate into the United States. Most people know that this is what the movement is but for selfish or stupid reasons, assume they'll still be free.

These people never seem to think about the implications of their beliefs. And after they do, they get mad about the natural pushback that comes with loosely holding those beliefs.
