Solomon is 25 and Jamaican and they love drawing and looking at and thinking about Cabby okay bye now,
Back to my point though. I think One perceives the way she is treated as more intentional than it is. But I also think the way she’s treated is wrong, even if it is unintentional. I think it’s disingenuous to pretend her outburst came out of nowhere, or that her isolation is solely her own fault,

We get a small example of this earlier in the episode, where she sends both Zero and Fourteen back to Fifteen’s shack because they “can’t behave”. Very reminiscent of how teachers punish victims for being bullied in the service of “fairness”. How is it fair to punish Zero for being attacked? —>

For a while, for being justifiably upset. Ironically, by trying to send her away, she’s telling One to do the very thing that caused her to get so upset in the first place: be alone. Sidenote: Three is not anywhere close to as good at handling conflict as they think they are. —>

This is technically true, but when Three says this, she means it will make their lives easier. What One hears is that it will help them all get even closer to each other without her, which she already witnessed earlier on. This is further confirmed for her when Three tries to send her away —>

Further, One is about to walk away, upset, but Three continues to show no sympathy to One, scolding her for even talking about the yoylite as if it was her discovery, and downplaying it as her getting lucky. She then thanks her for finding it, but then says “it’s gonna benefit us all”. —>

I think Three evading culpability in that moment unintentionally reveals that she doesn’t see them as a unit, or very close, which is natural, because they played for a few hours. But as stated earlier, One didn’t know this, because Three played it up for her. —>

She doesn’t acknowledge One’s feelings at all; initially she seems to feel bad about what One says, but instead of talking about that, she deflects and calls One selfish for not wanting the others to know about the yoylite, before correcting herself and saying “ourselves”. —>

For One, nothing changing would mean going back to being ignored and alone until she manages to find something cool again to briefly hold the others’ interests. This is the clearest she has been about her feelings. What does Three do with this information? —>

Three shows the audience that she (and by extension the others) don’t fully grasp how isolated they’ve made One feel to this point, by suggesting that “nothing has to change”, which of course, upsets One, and she clarifies what “nothing changing” would mean for her. —>

She tells One she “barely knows what [she’s] doing”, which undoubtedly comes off as disrespectful to One— she found the yoylite first, and practiced with it before anyone else did. She expresses this then quickly gets to the real issue— Three betraying her. —>

Three is doing this because she is playing the role of the “mature” one who is fair to everyone, as this is who she is to everyone, but she is so focused on positioning herself as the “bigger person” in the situation that she fails to acknowledge One’s feelings at all. —>

When One expresses her anger about the situation, she pulls down the tree branch to ruin their fun, and it ends up hurting Three, since the others scatter. Three asks why One is behaving the way she is, then condescends to her about the powers they all now have. —>

this is presumably the first time One has been invited to something like this, and I think it also shows they are unaware of the difficulty One has faced trying to get close to them this entire time. They finally look at her, but it’s because Three (only Three) invites One to join them. —>

Seeing everyone huddled under the tree enjoying themselves and giving no thought to her must have stung. And them inviting her under the tree must have felt like a slap in the face. I think they were probably genuine. But I also think —>

It’s possible she mentioned One to the others while One wasn’t present, but we aren’t really given any indication of that. And either way, One doesn’t know. All she hears is the person who is supposed to be her friend not even thinking about her, which eventually makes her angry. —>

One is so shocked and upset, that when everyone starts to head back to the playground, she runs away in tears and hides, perhaps out of embarrassment. Then she overhears them thanking Three for sharing the meteor, to which they respond without mentioning One. —>

And Three playing up the duo thing still also indicates to the audience that on some level, Three is aware of One’s motivations. —>

without Also noting that Three intentionally played up the special duo thing for One— even if we the audience know she was just trying to calm One down, One wouldn’t know that. To her, someone who latches on to people very easily, and who is desperate for recognition and friendship, it felt real. —>

But this time, it hurts her more because she believed she had something special with Three, and yet Three prioritised everyone else’s feelings over One’s. I think it’s fair to think that objectively, One can’t have such a special bond with Three after just a few hours, but you can’t say this —>

Three and One later go to bed; One believing she’s finally found her Person, and Three excited about the powers. The issue comes the next morning, when One wakes up to find that Three has brought everyone to the yoylite without her. Again, One has been excluded while everyone else gets to play. —>
