It's at the point where I am legit moving back to physical cookbooks. I would rather have a collection of known and tested recipes than 6,000,000 hits for "cookies" which are either AI or you have to read through 12 paragraphs of life story to find out its just tollhouse but with white chocolate :)

My club has a booth at this geeky themed craft fair and a couple years back we had rubber tipped arrows/bows for the kids and were moving targets. It was lots of fun.

Yeah that's pretty much where I fall. I have competed and even did a competition prep class my club offered last year but I mostly am just in it for the fun so also take the weird less useful but fun classes my club offers like sickle and poleaxe.

We were less concerned about historic accuracy for this and more about making it accessible for as many of our students as possible. An 'authentic' 100$+ jacket looks nice but a 35$ gi opens it up to way more people.

It's not bad actually. Very sweet, sort of a banana cream pie vibe minus the bananas. I don't know I would go making it very often, or ever again, but it is better than it sounds.

Everyone is excited for their first sword but really can't fully enjoy it till you have all your gear and can finally do steel sparring.

My club is currently doing a Irish "collar and elbow" wrestling module. You can get fancy jackets but most of us are just using a gi of some sort since it's good enough. It is a lot of fun.

...And it's people like that which make it hard for legit HEMA clubs/tournaments to get insurance that doesn't cost a fortune.

Yeah....the worst hits I have taken have been because I moved into what ended up being a thrust and basically hit myself twice as hard as it would have been otherwise.

HEMA guy here 😅my club has done some dagger classes and workshops and the first thing they teach is there really are no winners in a knife fight, you just hope to be less injured than the other guy.

We have done some random weapon pair up sparring during birthday gauntlets in the past. Some are a lot of fun.
