We. Love. Bugs! And at the Amber Vivarium, you'll meet one of the zoo's predators with personality - Gigatitan 🦟🌱

As solitary animals with enlarged, sharp forelimbs, they enjoy insect prey as our modified contact strategy requires specialists to wear protective gloves while handling the species!

Looking to support the zoo's animals and "exterminate" some memories this Valentine's Day? The #ArtemisPaleozoo will be hosting it's very first Bug-Off Fundraiser, where guests can donate to symbolically name a worm, insect, fruit, or vegetable after an ex as it helps feed our critters. 🪳🥬❤️

As @projectpaleozoo.bsky.social's zoological consultant, we apply many real elements of animal welfare and care of modern animals into the extinct species you'll see. Here's a fun graphic I did for Boris the Stegosaurus! 🌿
You might ask yourself "what goes into the care of the animals of APZ?" Today we feature Stegosaurus! 🌿

Stegosaurus are browsers, and animal care staff offer different sources of vegetation while promoting movement and mobility for overall joint health. 💪 #ArtemisPaleozoo

The fly river turtle (Carettochelys insculpta) is an omnivorous, freshwater turtle species from Northern Australia / Papua New Guinea. Superficially looking like a sea turtle with its flippered arms, are not related at all! Instead being the sole surviving member of the family Carettochelyidae 🐢 1/2

For meerkats, keeping your eyes peeled is an everyday task 👀

A social species, meerkats will keep watch as fellow troop members forage for food, tend to their burrows, or rear their young. When a predator like a bird or snake is seen, spotters will alarm that danger is near! ☀️

T.rex is often remembered as a fearsome predator, but what about other complex behaviors, like attracting a mate? 🦖

While the fossil record may not easily show us how dinosaurs behaved, we can infer that many animals partake in different forms of courtship to pass their genes. (1/2)

Tyrannosaurus rex is arguably the most famous dinosaur in the world. With large teeth and powerful jaws, have you ever thought to consider its eyes? 👀
