I found that the old Russian Holmes series is on Youtube with English subtitles. These were made by Lenfilm for Soviet television from 1979-1986 starring Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin. Good Sherlock adaptations if you've never seen them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=saVN...

I've recently read The Adventures of Mary Darlling, a mashup of Sherlock Holmes and Peter Pan. Mary Darling is Watson's niece, daughter of his alcoholic brother Henry. I enjoy its revised history, explaining the backstory of some Lost Boys and Tiger Lily's tribe. cress4.blogspot.com/2026/01/mary...

I discovered a cool "bookclub" podcast for Sherlock Holmes stories called However Improbable. They go in chronology order based on William Baring-Gould's theories, with some exceptions, and they discuss gender, queer readings, Empire, etc. Very interesting. www.howeverimprobablepodcast.com

Just found out that Jason Gray-Stanford who played Lt. Randy Disher on Monk also played Holmes in the Sherlock in the 22nd Century cartoon. Mind blown.

Apparently the Stranger Things finale happened. I have no opinion, as I never watched the show, but I am mad that Netflix put the finale into tons of movie theaters, way more than they did for Wake Up Dead Man. Or is that the movie theaters chains wanted Stranger Things more than Benoit Blanc? 😞

Has anyone ever watched the British comedy Upstart Crow about Will Shakespeare? They did a Christmas special one year called A Crow Christmas Carol. A vague Stranger (Spirit) from the future tells Dickens’s story to Will who decides to do the holiday haunting to his enemy. It’s wild.

I saw a production of A Sherlock Carol recently. Fun mashup of Blue Carbuncle with Dickens’s Scrooge tale.

Saw a movie called Sarah’s Oil, about Sarah Rector, who had to defend her land rights and oil rights from swindling white conman in Oklahoma during the time of the Osage murders. Even the white prospector Burt is an imperfect ally who has to make up for his mistake. #SarahsOil

On what is likely the last FULL week of episode releases for Molly of Denali, there’s some reeeeal good stuff airing! Molly and Grandpa Nat are traveling all over the Lower 48 and Hawaii to visit both volcanic activity sites and the Indigenous stewards of that land.

Here is a great way to teach your kids more about Native Americans this month. Molly of Denali–the only kids TV show to feature an Alaska Native character–is on the road for Native American Heritage Month. Molly, the show’s main character, visits 5 reservations.

Started watching the new French show Mademoiselle Holmes on PBS Passport. Intriguing premise so far. It wasn't just the car accident, but the fact that she stopped taking her meds, which unleashed her crimesolving skills. Charming quirky detective. #sherlockholmes

Anyone looking for Sherlock Holmes audio dramas with a full cast? The Brits had their BBC Radio dramas from Bert Coules, but we Americans also had a radio drama series from Imagination Theatre. They've done all 60 stories, which is an achievement. harrynile.com/product-cate...

Looks like AMC theaters will have Clue on screen for the 40th anniversary. It even seems that they will separate the 3 endings. Can’t wait! Love this movie

I recently reread The Copper Beeches story. Sherlock and Watson meet Violet Hunter at a hotel to discuss her case. She has to leave at 3pm and Holmes says they’ll meet her at the house at 7pm. So what are they doing for 4 hours? Did ACD mean us to imagine romantic interludes or what?
