He's actually angry that this information has been published, including the callous comment from the WH. His faux outrage about demanding to know 'who' said it is a deflection.
What he has not responded to is the Pope's direct request to make Mass and communion available to detained immigrants.

There is a process, but yes, he could be excommunicated. This would bar him from participating in church and receiving sacraments. His support of this administration/regime is in clear conflict with the teachings of the Catholic church.
