Screenshot of some command output in my terminal. I used `echo` to print out the exact names of the two seemingly-identical folders, then converted their textual representation into bytes so I could inspect them more accurately. The two names are identical save for a sequence starting at their fourth byte, at which they diverge for 2 and 3 bytes respectively, before converging again for the remainder of the text. It seems that the two "é" characters are being encoded differently: in the first string, it's made up of bytes 0xC3A9; in the second string, that sequence is instead made up of 0x65CC81.

A screenshot of my Advent of Code workspace. Three windows are shown: my code editor, some Obsidian markdown notes and a Firefox tab for the Advent of Code problem and submission. My code editor shows some of the Haskell code I wrote as my solution when learning the language, with the result from an execution of my program on test inputs and the actual problem input I was assigned. The Firefox window shows that my submission was correct and that I therefore solved the first part of the problem!

it helps that i use an extension for vertical tab grouping, so it doesn't overwhelm me. when i used to have horizontal tabs w/ no grouping i could only do like. 10 tabs at most before crying

hey eden i know we don't talk very often anymore but i wanted to chime in here 🫂 i can't claim to know how you're feeling, but i've been struggling with similar emotions more than ever this year. it's miserable to feel like no matter what you try you are never making tangible progress. i don't really have an answer as to how to "fix" that. but i want to say that i only ever see you trying your best, being kind, sharing your work with others, making an effort to live your own life. i respect that so much and i think you have been a good person for as long as i have known you. regardless of what anyone else may say or think about you, this is how i feel. it may feel hard or even impossible to truly believe in that just yet, on your end, but i and countless other people agree on how we feel about you, and i think that counts for something. i'm sending a warm hug your way and i hope that things can get even the slighest bit better for you soon 🫂 it is hard. it's not your fault for struggling

oh my god i found a good typst plugin for obsidian finally... i may never have to write latex ever again.
