Have a look at graduate projects at the different universities, if you think you can stomach more education. Easiest way to move here. Even here at the lowly 175-200th ranked university in the world you'll find plenty of good researchers ;)

He seems fine. Pretty boring money guy and about as centrist as they come. Much better on social issues than Keir, he has an NB kid and consistently publicly supports them and the community. Probably no big change, but in a world where everything is being taken away, I'm ok with a holding pattern.

It sure is, and that's why I'm trying my best to support. My language in my first post was a bit too forceful I think, but I meant it from a place of trying to help. This isn't twitter, there are far less people coming at content in bad faith. My follow ups were all honest.

The post was shared into my feed and on the surface (which is what bad actors will use!) it looks like sensationalism. I'm sorry I didn't have the time to spend then to search all his previous work. Will try to be better.

You definitely don't need to attack my university though.

Thank you for the extra context!

I live in Canada? I'm not trying to attack, I moved away from the UK years ago and I'm sad every time I see how bad the press has got, particularly about topics I care about. I worry that sensationalising with no extra context provides ammo to the wrong people. Lee has now given me extra context.

My PhD taught me to look at how a conclusion is reached - assuming all articles that include "transgender" are negative is also an example of a narrative being pushed. I don't like sensationalism, especially when it definitely isn't needed. Even 30 articles in 11 days would have been bonkers!
June 4, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Ok understood. Thank you.

Perhaps you can help to educate me then? I'm not sure how the articles that are describing support for trans folk (Redmayne, junior doctors, transpledge) are attacking. Is it because they are adding to the over saturation? Or because The Telegraph is clearly a rag so they are likely bad faith?
June 3, 2025 at 1:56 PM
Hi Lee, quite a few of these don't appear to be "attacking" trans people at all. You have just searched for "transgender". There are plenty of examples you could have used to show support for our trans friends without resorting to blatant sensationalism.

So it just kinda does.. nothing good. It gained an historic majority because the Tories made such a mess of things, but that was also mostly due to people lending it their vote. It can't please the social progressives without angering their traditionalist working class base. So it pleases no one.

It can't figure out how to navigate the modern left-wing climate. It's role used to be standing up for the working class against rich people. But it has now become the major party on the "left" and it can't reconcile the social progressive values with an increasingly nationalist working class base.

I think Bennett is a trap. Really not sure I like any plan for next season that doesn't involve Marner. Worried they will overpay for some old, mid talent that will then put themselves out of any FA conversation next summer. The only good news is they might be able to get Knies on a long term deal

Kid in the front row even has a Marner jersey on. Storybook stuff. Love this for Mitch.

The NIH is such a complex agency that gives out money to so many different fields of research all around the world. My lab in Canada is funded by them, through long standing collaboration. Just a total mess to try and selectively apply funding restrictions.

I now desperately need to know how Catan stacks up against other classic game console catelogues

Not only does he not offer anything, he actually consistently gets things wrong. A lot of good writers lost their jobs so this guy could keep his. I can only assume the execs don't watch their own broadcasts.

He has left his feet before the hit connects. This wasn't a case of momentum taking him off his feet after. Really can't figure out how this was taken into account. This game is going to get messy.
