Wrote today at ItF that I believed the Royals would non-tender India and Melendez. I am not accepting congratulations on only getting the Melendez call correct. A bit surprised they didn’t hang on to Clarke. Oh well. Subscribe anyway. I need the affirmation.

Sometimes, you can still be surprised.
We have agreed to terms with Jonathan India on a contract for 2026, avoiding arbitration.

Today is best spent refreshing MLB Trade Rumors while listening to The Replacements remastered box set of Let It Be. And reading what the Royals will do with their arbitration-eligible players at the tender deadline this afternoon.

The tender deadline: Who gets a contract offer from the Royals?
The deadline to tender players contracts is Friday. Here's how I think it will go for the Royals.

Terrible news about Mani. Still remember the first time I heard The Stone Roses. That debut album is so powerful, it never fails to transport me back to that time. They became a gateway band that led to the discovery of a ton of artists that are in heavy rotation for me to this day. Damnit.
Can’t believe Mani died. Was listening to the Stone Roses a few weeks ago, and I never get tired of “I Wanna Be Adored.” That opening is cinema, desperation and optimism all rolled into one. youtu.be/kmAZWKdCvmI?...

My first thought: Finally Ward is traded!
My second thought: OriLOLes

On this day in 1911, John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil was born in Carabelle, FL. It's hard to say whether I've ever seen a better ambassador for the game (especially the Negro Leagues) in my lifetime, though I doubt it. Here's a color study of the man with the Kansas City Monarchs in 1948.

I aspire to reach the level where I travel with my own interview backdrop.
Boras-a-palooza at the GM Meetings begins with a lengthy celebration of Top Gun in describing Cody Bellinger, an “urban maverick.” With no qualifying offer attached to Bellinger, Boras says, “That goose is gone.”

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Seriously? He has no idea how insurance works or how to govern. I’ll never get over 77 million people thinking a man this incompetent belongs anywhere near the Oval Office.
