yeah theres been some talk about it cannibalising itself. model collapse I think its called. Which in theory makes sense because by its very nature its recursive. But I don't really know tech behind that

I saw a post saying an ad that once cost £100k would now cost £100 with ai. great! now agencies can make so many more ads! but wait, companies are still asking for the same number of ads to be made. so now what?

to ammend point 1 a little: the finance and marketing people are of course enjoying their false sense of creativity but ai also appeals to them because it cuts a chunk out the budget, mainly the creatives they despise so much.

7. And lastly, and this is personal to me and any other person who creates. We don't HAVE to make art, we GET to make art. I write for cartoons. Loads of people would kill to have my job. Why would I sell of even a fraction of that creativity to a machine?

6. We are going to see more and more of this in the public space (i saw an ai Boots ad on the tube the other day) but this is largely fueled by novelty. Like I said, people don't want to be sold something by a machine.

5. (and this ones a kicker) all the people getting excited about it are exactly the same people who got really excited about Nfts and crypto. Hows that going?

4. The average person wants real stuff. it's not just artists pushing back against this.

3. people keep harping on about how its just 'going to keep getting better and better'. While it has improved in what it does (largely due to theft of peoples work), just because it's improved doesn't mean we're on a set path towards it becoming perfect and indistinguishable from real art

2. the people who are excited about using in in creative settings think creativity is something you're born with. They think they just weren't so fortunate and are now on a level playing field. This shows their lack of taste and inability to understand creativity in all forms is developed.

We finished our rewatch (or for Sian, first watch) of all the xmen movies ending with Deadpool and Wolverine. Such a wild and bizarre franchise. First Class is still by far the best in my books.
