'According to an article on the Wildlife Conservation Society Canada (WCSC) website, the lowlands “are often cited as the second-largest peatland complex in the world,” and absorb “the equivalent of around 1.6 billion tonnes of CO2” each year.'
The money will go towards 'community infrastructure and supports,” said the province, adding that the money is “a critical step in the development and construction of the proposed all-season Webequie Supply Road to the Ring of Fire | @mblackburn21.bsky.social

This Halloween, we’re not losing sleep only over ghosts and ghouls👻Our nightmares are about what’s haunting Canada’s nature: a lack of nature funding, bills that axe protections, deregulation, etc. Support strong environmental laws and demand climate action that won’t vanish overnight.
