anyway, the underlying point is that this sort of usage is owed mostly to state & revolution, which says of the lower phase both socialist principles (work for your food + equal products for equal labour) are fulfilled and yet we don't have communism insofar as we still have bourgeois right

sure, i suppose if you folded in CCP members that'd be a good counterexample, though there are some reasons why doing this is contested enough. a more precise version of the initial point then would be that *among anglophones* most communists are in favour of a world without markets & money

in a certain sense that's true, the socialist/communist distinction we're used to doesn't begin til lenin. but on the other hand there is today a difference of emphasis where almost all communists are committed to a world without markets & money, but not all self-professed socialists (though some)
