Recently acquired a bag of military patches, mostly WWII. There's some wild stuff in there! My favorite is this one, for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF). Based in London, they oversaw the planning for Normandy.

At any rate, her reproach broke my gilded trance. She was laying across the narrow part of an extravagant bed, her instrument on her upturned stomach and her head over the edge so that her long hair, she had much longer hair then, draped on the rug. Beside her was an empty bottle much like the one we had all partaken from earlier in the evening. I expressed my apologies but that was not the conversation which she was interested in having. "Did you know," she began while still looking at me from upside down, still plucking strings, "That I was married once? Well, near enough, but so very long ago." Knowing next to nothing about her, I shook my head and wondered what "so very long ago" might mean to someone who seemed only a few years my senior.

Raven wasted no time in crawling into the bed, whispering tearfully at a volume which she incorrectly presumed would be inaudible to Elle. “Oh my dear Morana, what a terrible thing I’ve done to you. How could I ever appease my own guilt? Is there anything I must do?” “You can’t help what is in your nature.” Morana’s response came at regular, though fatigued, volume. “Besides, it brought us closer. You understand me better now.” Elle couldn’t avoid eavesdropping on the absurd conversation. She abstained from commenting and instead focused on her own efforts. Once the flame was rekindled, she carefully arranged a few small logs above it. “I loathe the way I behaved, and wish I hadn’t acted so suspiciously of you, my love.” Raven sighed, her head dipping to kiss Morana’s temple. Her voice was muffled after as she spoke against the spot. “I shouldn’t make you fret, I shall let you rest while I get you more of your wine, some clothes, and thank the Master for her dedication and time.” The woman glanced over to Elle furtively before adding, “Although, I don’t think she finds me very agreeable.” “Don’t let that bother you, my sweet. She will notice how lovely you are.” Morana’s voice grew progressively strained until she coughed, hissing in pain after.
