What happened to the 23 surface drifters that we released to track small scale surface ocean currents? We recovered all 23 of them!! All thanks to some excellent navigation by the officers and top notch lassoing by the deck crew!

We recently had drifter release day here on the JC273 cruise! In total 23 surface drifters have been released and will be used to track fine scale surface ocean currents over 24 hours.

Last week we launched our Autosub Long Range (who you might know better as Boaty McBoatface!) Boaty will measure a range of ocean properties at depths of up to 3500 meters!
