Generating video is *immensely* energy intensive. Let's say they produced 3,000 10 second clips for this ad (suspect that'd be an underestimate). At 1KWh per clip it's 3 megawatt hours.

Maybe ~400-500 households usage for a day?

Guess govt cowed by overwhelming sense of dependence on US (obvs, altho still believing can rely on them). This is interesting (& salutary) article re: growing global 'networked' interdependence, which surely must be increasing inclination to 'turn a blind eye'
