honestly the phrases section should also include all-hiragana readings next to the romaji too. this book is clearly targeted at complete beginners or non-speakers but if you are going to go to japan, knowing kana at the very least is really darn useful

and more often than not it's over shadow's "I don't care what happens to others" line. maybe if everyone didn't ignore everything else the story had to say about him earlier (which is all true whether you like it or not) they wouldn't be so confused and mad

Shadow uses "boku" in Sonic games because one of his creators Maekawa envisioned him as a "delicate and pure" character. His "dangerous purity" has also been frequently brought up in stories and bios. Much to Sonic Team's credit, they've respected his creative decision long after he left Sega.

also been thinking that, if maria became the earth, sonic and shadow are protecting her from the maddened grief-ridden gerald (ark) here. then shadow falls into her cradle as a well-earned rest. there's something quite beautiful about both sonic and shadow becoming maria's guardians like that

this shot from sonic x ep 50 that lasts just a couple seconds is really brainrotting me. the implications of this are, genuinely, insane. shadow briefly got to reunite with maria after he "died" and the last thing we see them do is help sonic and friends go home. don't talk to me. it's canon
