Your aspens seem a lot different to ours. Ours have a papery smooth bark like a birch.

I’m starting to learn that. Especially since we keep getting bombarded with these hour long cuts. 😁

Good morning Red. Y’all gotta stop with these DS>SS>11 first thing in the morning. I woke up at 7:30. Checked in came across this. It’s now 8:38 I haven’t even had coffee, for crying out aloud. But my rule of never pass up a Dark Star stands. But Jeez let a guy get a cup of coffee, huh. 😁

Not that I disagree about this guy. But there’s a history of at least one. It’s a bit of world history Americans should read because of all that led to this and all that followed. Especially her habit of declaring emergencies to get her way.

2/ of 4 AAs. A litium AA is about .5 oz. So that’s 2 Oz. Use an Orvis or Nautilus instead of an Abel or Hardy and you’re there. If you use a 10ft or two hander the problem normally is a reel too light. So we fix 2 problems in one shot.

Not really. All you need is localized warming. 7.2 volts across 10 Ohms will give you 5 watts. Push that across 13 guides and you get about .38 watts per guide. That’s easy to get a 15F rise in a small surface area like a guide. 5 Wh at 7.2 V is .69 Ah. A LIon AA gives 3 Ah. So about 5 hours out 2/

1 possibility is to just run fine wires in the middle of the rod with connectors in the ferrules. Now make the guides out of some sort of higher resistance material( might need some abrasion shielding) and warm the guides. A little napkin calculation shows about 8 hrs for a 15 degree rise 4 AAs.

I’m thinking in terms of using the graphite used to make the rod itself. There ought to be a technique to increase the resistivity of the material. Adding SiC may be one way. Now a battery in the grip could be used to heat the whole rod. Something like that.
