At some point I went from "I don't like writing but I like having written" to "I don't like writing and I don't like the things that I've written" which leaves me with "I write because I'm a writer" but at this point I stare at the blank page more than I write so perhaps freedom is within sight.

The first truly abysmal day of Northeast Indiana's overwhelmingly gloomy fall and winter season. We have 280ish cloudy days/year, so it's like the Pacific Northwest if it was a flat, denuded landscape of industrial agriculture and the social, cultural, and architectural ruins of US manufacturing.

Reading middle-aged job-hunting woes and one reason it may be difficult for people over 40-50 to get hired without leveling-up is when the people in charge are used to exploiting their colleagues and they know it's easier to take advantage of someone in their 20s or 30s who's never been in charge.
