The only “friends” I have there now are there by choice, and relish in the sewage. Trying to convince X users to come here is about as useful as telling a MAGA they shouldn’t be MAGA. Time to stop sweating it over here. Let’s move on.
This is blatantly, undeniably true and has been for a long time, and it is cooking people's brains to hang out there and think it's not true. Regardless of if you like this place as an alternative or not. Musk puts his thumb heavily on the scale because your feed there is his personal plaything.
If you're trying to convince your friends to spend time on Bluesky rather than X, maybe show them this. X is not "the public town square" or about "free speech." It's "just what Elon Musk wants you to see." If you see stuff he doesn't like he'll step in to make sure you don't see it for long.

I think that the best thing I’ve seen come from the NYC mayoral election, is Texans suddenly caring about anything other than Texas. Good. Glad they’re expanding their horizons, even if it is to regurgitate gross, racist things they’ve been fed. ❤️

I have a friend that takes the “I went to Harvard” meme to another level. They took two remote classes a few years back and remind me weekly. In the meantime, I don’t think they know I’ve even been to college.
