Big ol' nerd into anime / manga (& animation in general), movies, video games, and to a lesser extent TV & comics.
The median Democrat is just not acknowledged as existing as a distinct faction of the party.

From what I've seen, it's less "act as if it's not an option" and more "lump in normie libs with your opposition". The hard left calls anyone not socialist a "liberal" (derogatory), while reactionary centrists treat everyone to the left of Andy Beshear as destroying the party with their craziness.

“Tragedy of young men”

Lady, parenting like yours are what’s CAUSING the “tragedy of young men.”

An overlooked factor in the radicalization of Evelyn Normielib against Democratic Party leadership is the humiliation of watching fascists gloat.

If age has given me anything, it's dark humor at how people romanticize the past who weren't there or don't remember it. For all the dystopia and misery people call out now, the past was WAY worse on most fronts, in even the smallest of details.

Just absolute fear of doing anything, based on beliefs that are divorced from the real perspectives of both their own voters and the general public.

YouTuber Ryan Geddie refers to the Democratic Party's image as a "repulsive brand of nervous status quoism", and behavior like this exemplifies that to a tee.

Purple Rain the song is great but it has a serious case of “Hey Jude Syndrome”.

Dave Karpf wrote a good article directly calling out Bazelon's research:

Why Centrist Democrats Keep Being Wrong About Elections
A new 60-page report insists the party is too radical. But the problem isn’t the party platform. The problem is the broader environment.

If this isn’t inspired by him, I strongly recommend checking out Toby Buckle, because he is speaking your (and my) language:

What is a reactionary centrist, and does the UK have them?
A term favoured by US progressives can help us understand Britain’s drift to the right

Drew Pavlou debated someone on YouTube recently and he sounded like an absolute lunatic the entire time.

Noah Smith has turned into an absolute slimeball. Not just insufferable, but outright libelous and dishonest shit.

People guessed how people would vote based on a belief - and that belief drove their vote in a way that disproved their own assumption. Now apply this to real world politics.

This failure is downstream of the greater failing of 20th Century thinking: that sociopolitical problems are a mechanical issue you can socially engineer away. We need to shift our thinking away from this "engineer" mentality if we want to solve the problems of the 21st century.

Between this and the negative reaction to Trump even once suggesting you should get a vaccine, it’s clear that a decent chunk of these people are more invested in their conspiracies than in Trump and there needs to be a way to take advantage of that.

Honestly makes sense to me. These guys’ whole schtick is thinking that there’s an evil elite cabal that based hero Trump is fighting, but by refusing to publish the supposed Epstein list and denying it exists, he’s inadvertently suggested he’s part of (or covering for) the cabal.
