It’s not cheap though. I once paid over €50 for a sandwich there. But admittedly it was quite a sandwich.

This is the problem isn’t it? And you solve it with a higher birth rate or immigration. People can’t afford children and they don’t want immigration. Meanwhile pensioners vote.

That would be no bad thing. We need fewer vehicles on the road. But they will still be cheaper than petrol cars to run.

Why? They need tax revenue and right now EVs are (relatively) tax free. And they still cause negative externalities, so it seems fair enough to tax them.
