“We want to be a nation of home owners”… “Your home’s appreciation is the best way to build wealth” When you say it out loud it seems obvious that these two American ideals are in long-run opposition to one another. Never occurred to me in the 00s

Some leaders have fought the corruption and civil rights abuses of this administration. Others have coerced the federal government to release the names and private emails of rich people who committed no known crimes but were in communication with a monster. Which ones will history lionize?

The story isn’t that a D flipped a Trump+17 district. We saw that swing in NJ and VA. The story is that the D won by 14. That’s net 31 points.

Last time:
Ernst +7
Collins +8
Tillis +2
Rubio +16
Vance +6

Reading Blue Sky on Iran massacre defend the regime on anticolonial grounds makes me sad. I hope those posts are bots and not sentient trolls.

Add to my list: leaders that the illiberal left embraced because they were anti-colonialist, only to find that once in power they tortured opposition figures.
Ayatolla
Castro
Chavez
Mugabe
Gadaffi
Saddam Husein

I’d like to see more on this platform about what comes next in V, who administers elections? will a new constitution be needed? Who will the military and police report to? When can the 900 political prisoners held there be released? How will a free press be set up?…”it’s illegal” won’t help V.

It’s times like these when I wonder if the UN could have a temporary constitution for when a dictator is deposed. “Elections will take place in 90 days for 50 legislators and a head of state…the legislators will adopt a permanent constitution four months later. The police fiction will be filled by…”

In 1970 Californians used as much electricity as the rest of the country and had about the same electricity rates.

Now their rates are double ours and they use half the electricity (and have a killer economy).

High electricity rates (4% of GDP and in line with peer countries) aren’t the problem /1

Watching NFL games since they added the retired referee to the broadcast a few years ago, I’m surprised how rarely I learn anything from rules guy. Broadcasters: fire the ref and add a data guy. When Buffalo went for two last week I wanted to know if the odds favored that decision or not.

Wishing Mamdani the best, but my God every economist says freezing rent will, in the medium term as building new rental housing is disincentivized, raise rents later. NYC has the most existing rent control and has the highest rents. Support for this policy is the left’s version of vaccine denialism

The answer to right wing populism is never left wing populism. Otherizing rich people doesn’t work as well as otherizing foreigners because many see the rich as aspirational and left wing populism as “anti-prosperity for me.” Clinton didn’t do it. Obama didn’t do it.

For years the Epstein story was an Alex Jones and QAnon obsession. Crickets from Democrats. Does anyone really believe us when we say this is about justice for the victims? Just because you evoke the victims on cable news doesn’t mean that’s what this is about. Stupidest. Issue. Ever.
December 14, 2025 at 8:48 PM
“The images include pictures of Epstein with… Trump, Bannon, Clinton, Summers, Gates, Woody Allen, Richard Branson, Alan Dershowitz..They do not appear to show illegal activity by these individuals.”…if not illegal activity, then why would your government release them?

Listening to James Talarico on Chris Hayes right now and I'm just not sure why the conventional wisdom is that he's the future. Democrats who communicate like him keep loosing national elections. He interviews exactly the opposite of Gavin Newsom. One sounds coached and one sounds well-read.

Jon Pardi performed at the Big12 championship game and once it’s on YouTube you gotta listen to it. His voice sounds like punishment.

Democrats pls don’t put Mark Kelly on the 2028 ticket. He’s not even the most talented senator from Arizona. Sending fundraising texts every 5 minutes while putting MSNOW viewers to sleep is not winning strategy. Strong bio cannot edge out communication style. Ask John Kerry (who had a better bio)

M Ali, Trump, Jim Brown, and Namath stayed friends with OJ Simpson after the murders. Yoko Ono and Paul Shafer orbited Phil Specter after. Tebow (Hernandez), Trent Reznor (Manson), Sinatra, Anthony Quinn (Gotti). Why do you want your government to release the names of those who emailed by Epstein?/1
December 6, 2025 at 12:29 AM
Are you sure you want the federal government to release embarrassing emails they’ve collected even if there’s no evidence that you committed a crime? Is that really “accountability?” Where is the libertarian left on the Epstein files release?
