I’d forgotten that. I did a similar thing. This re-used a grid I put together immediately after my first Rookie Corner. I re-clued it blind but one clue was almost identical to the original, and I decided another original was better than the new one, so used that.

The American indicator should sit with the Americanism. If that is the pronunciation of the homophone, that is where it should be. DM me the clue if you like, in case I have misunderstood.

If you look at my profile picture, it might explain a British saying “as bald as a coot”, which refers to the bird not to a generic (or specific) person! As it happens, I am also somewhat challenged in that department 😂

Really enjoyed watching your solve of my puzzle just now, Aaron. Many thanks for doing that. Very interesting to see how the clues land across the pond. I’d forgotten, or maybe not realised, how many Britishisms were in it! One minor spoiler about one of those follows …
