He was voted in unanimously (by all 16 voters) by the Hall's Contemporary Era Baseball Committee.

-OF Lou Thornton from the Mets
-INF Manny Lee from the Astros

This meant the Blue Jays had to carry them on their MLB roster in 1985.

The Blue Jays won a franchise record 99 games in 1985.

Seven years ago today, James Paxton (Ladner, B.C.) was named winner of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's Tip O'Neill Award, as top Canadian player.

Paxton went 11-6 with a 3.76 ERA in 28 starts for the Mariners in 2018. Among his wins was a no-hitter against the Jays at Rogers Centre on May 8.
