fire/flying variants for the woobat line!
fire/flying type variants of the pokemon Woobat and Swoobat. their bodies are a brownish gray, sooty color. their wings and body accents are bright yellows, orange, and reds, reminiscent of fire. they're designed as a pun on heartburn, or burning passion.

regional variant Patrat and Watchog! (dark)
regional variant designs of the pokemon Patrat and Watchog. they have been given gnome and dwarf design elements, with their head fur pulled up into a point. watchog has a long beard, and pickaxe-shaped tooth. its safety stripes are now glow in the dark for use in mines and caves, to find jewels and rich minerals. the idea behind these is erdmann's cave -> dwarves -> meerkats (called erdmännchen in german)

my alien character, oofo, as a human. he has a vest and dark collared shirt. he wears a necktie with a ufo pin on the knot to make it look like a tractor beam. he has alien head cufflinks, and a crop circle belt buckle. my witchsona, conversely, is now oofo's alien species. she has three orbs in her suit skirt, large ryes, and a miniature version of her witch hat.

a regional variant design of the pokemon Psyduck, and a regional evo Wooduck. Psyduck is white with blue wings, and has a feather collar made to resemble a child sailor outfit's necktie. Wooduck has white and golden orange feathers, with bright blue bill and webbing. its arms have long, curled feathers to resemble wings. it has a male and female form; the male has lon, shaped head feathers like a mandarin duck, and a dark collar of feathers. the female has a smooth head and a 'necklace' instead of a collar. her bill is orange, and webbing black. the two are visually based on mandarin and ruddy shelducks, and wood carved ducks overall.

psychic/fire variant designs for the pokemon Gothita, Gothorita, and Gothitelle. instead of being gothic lolita style, they are meant to be wedding styled, with white clothing and bright firey frills and ribbons. gothorita's dress layers make it appear like a wedding cake.

#art wanted to try making a ref for Oofo but i kind of made his design to conform strictly to rule of cool/funny... here's some info on him tho

a loose reference for my alien Oofo. he is an alien with a phobia of humans, but has to comp[lete an earth study for class credits (college equivalent). he crashed and wrecked his ride... TLDR now staying with 'the Witch'. he works with tech and engineering. smart, but also a bit pathetic. he's very expressive. some notes on his design: almost never shows teeth. eyes only show whites when necessary for expression. his suit is flying saucer shaped; his suit bubble is permeable just to his own body (so body parts can go through it freely like antenna, arms, and legs). usually keeps limbs tucked in unless in use. other stuff has to go underneath (food, tools, etc). he says the suit is for vitals but he's just scared of earth diseases and animals. the bubble can become opaque.

Shieldon/Bastiodon (rock/ground)

Can you tell what their themes are?
regional variant designs of the pokemon Anorith and Armaldo, as fighting/rock. Anorith's body is reminiscent of an inner tube float, with paddle-like fins. Armaldo has large, sail-like fins along its back. regional variant designs of the pokemon Shieldon and Bastiodon, rock/ground. Shieldon has an alternating pink and gold patterning along its body. Bastiodon has even more layers of the patterning, meant to evoke sedimentary rocks. it has a cape-like ruffle along its sides, and large rounded toes. it has wheel-like shapes on its cheeks, and a plow-shaped lower jaw. regional variant designs of the pokemon Omanyte and Omastar, rock/dragon. Omanyte is beige with a brown shell and red accents. every other tentadle has a red tip. a sketch is shown from below, showing that its tentacles swirl around to look like a propeller. Omastar is bright yellow, red, and orange, with light blue accents. it has a straight, spiked shell. it holds its two pairs of arm tentacles out straight to its sides in a specific shape to fly through the air.

here's two important pokemon archetypes: Professor Stein and your rival type character, Garcy!
Kirsch Hyperion-Stein is a man short in stature and obsessively well-kept. He has worked very hard to get to where he is today as a world-class man of science and research. He has his hands in many pies, but specializes in the relationship between pokemon and their environment. He is the head professor of the research group which has recruited you, the player, to travel the region and complete tasks. His clothes have a cherry motif, along with the rest of his family (vaguely). he has a streak of lighter hair on his head, and a full well kept beard. his wife, Mara, has bright pinkish red hair and is very unserious and upbeat, the opposite of him. they have two children, both not living at home. Garcy, short for Garcinia, is a young adult who felt confined to her home with an overbearing mother, and is currently taking part in the regional Trials and wants to compete in the upcoming Battle Fest- the yearly league competition to raise money and scout talent. though she loves her pokemon, she seems to not take battling very seriously. she gets easily frustrated when things don't go correctly. she has orange and gold striped hair, short with large curls, and pulled up in a bandana. she wears a cardigan over a mangosteen-themed dress, and carries around a swalot drawstring bag.
