Pavakka is amazing . I feel sad that I didn’t touch it when I was a kid . Now ? I’d kill for paavakka chips or pitla or puli kozhambu

And also that you are going to be attacked online for having a nuanced opinion by people that’d rather outrage than sit down and have a serious conversation

But that said , I am thankful for that first season of frenzied shopping that kinda taught me how to coupon , how to hunt around for a deal and how to not go over a pre determined budget just because something was deeply discounted .< end of recollections >

and have to work ungodly hours and miss spending time with family because your employer is raking in sales by discounting stuff . I’m sort of glad that most of that madness has reduced greatly

the sales as such are great for companies and for people looking to buy things at discount < my first sales haul helped me set up my first apartment and acquire a wardrobe that lasted me years and get a phone connection going for a little less than $400 > but it is not fun when you work in retail

But somewhere along the way , I think the week of frenzied discounts has stopped being as crazy as it was and for that I’m thankful . The last big ticket item I ever purchased on Black Friday was a TCL TV in 2020 because our older Samsung TV got damaged during our move from WI and we were at home

Over the years I have spent considerable time researching Blackfriday deals for a good TV for our house , a vacuum when we needed replacements and when we were setting up our household post wedding , cookware , electronics for folks back home who thinkextreme deals are available , winter clothes

I remember browsing RadioShack and Newegg for cellphone deals and I remember discovering target , Sam’s Club and its multiple aisles and how to set up a household .

I bought most of my household essentials during the thanksgiving sales in 2012 and that included an incredibly warm north face jacket and some very nice boots for what was a steal. That was the first and only thanksgiving where I queued up physically to buy stuff .

I get that . Here’s hoping you figure out how to get that machine back up and running and to more coffee :)

Turns out he never descaled his old machine that he owned when he was single . We shifted to filter coffee when we got married and then to a Nespresso a few years ago

It was late evening , but yes it was quite an event

😂 40s are the new 30s if you ask me , but yeah - Costco and Trader Joe’s feel like a date
