BUT in more mechanical games, your gameplay is part of narrative, fights ARE narrative obstacles, same with solving puzzles. So I would try and draw out a large outline of your story, figure out the parts that the gameplay tells for you, and from that, plan the scenes that need to be more “written”

Hello! I think a lot of this depends on what kind of game you’re making, and how much story you want in it. I’m working on a visual novel, so it’s very text heavy, and has a linear narrative, so I use stuff from the world of tv writing like a season overview, scene by scene, and script.
