📚 This annual bursary, which aims to support these under-represented voices in Canada’s comics industry, provides a $1000 to a Black or Indigenous person living in Canada for the creation and production of a mini-comic.

Featuring veteran cartoonists, archival work, and fresh new talents this anthology expands what a graphic short can be.

Featuring a preface by Andy Brown on thirty years of publishing activity at Conundrum, 30×30 collects all the books in the CONUNDRUM 25 pocketbook series in celebration of the 30th anniversary of this highly acclaimed publishing company.

To celebrate another decade of publishing comics, Conundrum presents 30×30: Thirty Years of Conundrum Press, an anthology of graphic shorts from 25 Canadian artists.

Their work will be published online and in print in a winter 2026 feature in Herizons. Honourable mentions will receive $150 CAD and their work will be published in print.

With a focus on anti-oppression, topics are related to gender, race, sexuality, ability, and other identity markers that intersect and shape our lived experiences.

Herizons Magazine is currently running a Feminist Comic Contest until October 31, 2025. One winner will receive $600 CAD.

The Helsinki Comics Festival also organizes one-on-one portfolio reviews with publishers for emerging comics artists. On Sunday Andy Brown will be doing reviews, from 11am-1pm. Duration for one pitching session is 15 min. Sign up in advance via the link in our bio.

Cole Pauls’ comics transform northern homelands into worlds of adventure and satire, while Whess Harman’s textiles and text-based works hold both humour and resistance in every stitch and phrase.
