We are too large a country for us to be one state. We have so many other laws and things in place that would prevent it too.

And logic and the already existing lines that the country is split into. We have provinces. Territories. We have a plethora of rights and laws and protections engrained that the US doesn't have enshrined right now. The thought of those being removed is beyond horrifying.
