I think they've realised very few people are interested in going to the US for a conference any more, so they're desperately trying to expand their audience and stay relevant. Republicans/ICE are destroying the US conference and tourism industries.

I think I got HL2 on launch day. I definitely remember complaining about having to install steam to play a single-player game.

Glad you liked it. If you want another recommendation - Shapez 2 (store.steampowered.com/app/2162800/...) isn't strictly a trains game, it's a factory & assembly line builder, but after you get past the first hour, trains are introduced and become a major part of the game.

I got a question on Discord about how the collision works for the magnetic fields - here's a visualization. Plasma inside the white squares is deflected. Smaller plasma balls are deflected more. I use simple bounding-box checks for all collisions in this game to keep it fast. #picotron #shmup

I haven't seen a mod like that - however, Train Valley 1 has a completely different play-style and is also really good. You might like it too 😁

Yes I think I'll try some camera-shake during explosions. It will probably mess up the edges of the view slightly, but maybe that's ok.
