Ah yes, the classic we cut a bunch of stuff because the last government started it and now we realise we actually need to do something... this time for digital infrastructure in health.

Had a quick read of the NZ Initiatives report on electoral reform.
Discussions on the number of MPs aside, the fact they are supporting the coalitions governments move to restrict the ability for people to enrol is a massive massive red flag...
This really should be the focus of any media...

The East West link in Auckland, slated as the 'most expensive road' in NZ when the cost was $1.25-1.8 billion, is now slated to cost between $3.7-4.1 billion.

Interesting... specials went almost 1:3 favouring the left in Waitematā in 2022... and I think that ratio is going to be higher this year

The audacity to say this when C&R councillors voted AGAINST making voting in person... the hypocrisy and misinformation is off the charts!!
So VOTE if you haven't already, and tell your friends and family to vote if you have voted!
And vote for progressives who actually want to make things better!

Can't say its the same one 100%, but preeeetttty sure this hoarding I found dumped on Williamson Ave might be the one someone stole when they vandalised our hoarding (it also looked like it had been run over)

It can be hard to call out this stuff, because candidates and elected members can be quick to fall back on plausible deniability. These are just members of the public – “not my circus, not my monkeys.” Or, they’ll just downplay the level and impact of abuse or vandalism.

Just one example: this election, City Vision hoardings have been subject to targeted and persistent vandalism. We’ve also had conversations about watching out and avoiding certain people due to their history of using physical actions against things and people. Eg: www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3607...

Obviously politicians or staff shouldn’t be harassed. But nor should elected members engage in harassment. One example: for the last 3 years, one C&R Waitematā Local Board member has waged a relentlessly negative campaign against the chair, who stepped away from C&R at the start of the term.

Another concern is when elected members constantly enable and legitimise people whose influence is both outsize and toxic.

…and it’s important to look beyond the cutesy name, because Rock the Vote NZ has some pretty cooked views, they support people like Brian Tamaki, they are extremely anti LGBT, are anti vaccine, and support United Nations conspiracy theories

Spent almost five hours today fixing our hoardings. Some damaged by wind, but a lot by vandalism including this one completely smashed up in Ponsonby.
Thing is, it's essentially only OURS which are being intentionally vandalised over and over again. Makes you wonder...
