The American public has proved time and time again that it has the memory of a goldfish. Polls at this juncture are largely meaningless as indicators of elections 1/2/3 years away, unfortunately.

Yep. One of the best parts of a WC / Olympics is the fan park with people from dozens of countries sharing their love of sport. Buying each other drinks, trading stories, etc. None of that will happen when games are so spread out. This is going to be a very mediocre WC on the ground, I'm afraid.

This is 100% going to happen. The price of tix doesn't reflect the diluted nature of this tournament. There are going to be a lot of group-stage games with less quality than an MLS game, never mind a top league. Plus, there will be no "fan park" vibe because countries/fans are spread all across NA.

1000% this. That robot mowing the lawn at your local golf club used to be a great job for a 15 year old kid. That AI scribe that fills out all your forms used to be a great way for a new graduate to understand a business. We're creating an hour-glass economy with uber-wealthy and slave labour. :-(
