Orlando has done fairly well against Miami, all things considered. Certainly better than we fared against Atlanta during their prime years. The defeats against ATL left me angry but motivated to demand more from the club. With Miami, it just feels gross because of how Messi was acquired.

I think this is why a lot of non-Miami fans see Miami as a villain. Nobody wants to think that their league would intervene in the competition in the name of business growth, but that's the reality. Apple helped Inter Miami afford Messi, and MLS facilitated the deal.

The reality of any sports league is that it either grows or dies. Along the path of growth, key moments will change the way the league feels to its fans, depending on when they started watching. To me this Miami team represents an unwelcome but unavoidable sobering reminder about sports and money.
