"an average of 52% of Ukrainians would like to see their country negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible" is literally the sentence before that one

I empathize with Jesse's concerns about antisemitism, and I also am concerned about the normalization of antisemitic figures in North America. But if I were to create a podcast series about it, I'd focus on those who have for years openly preached it, not on those I suspect secretly harbour it.

The antisemitism Jesse (rightfully) fears - the antisemitism of concentration camps and of gas chambers - does not come from grassroots movements in support of Palestinians. It comes from powerful people and powerful institutions, all of which Jesse seems to turn a blind eye to.

Elon Musk did two Nazi salutes, and the Republican party is cautiously but increasingly welcoming Nick Fuentes into the fold. White supremacist active clubs are training to launch a race war, and their members are embedding themselves in the Conservative party.

The positioning of the 'Pro-Palestinian' movement as responsible for the rise of antisemitism in Canada ignores those who actively preach antisemitism. The Canadian government gave a standing ovation to an SS member. We provide financial support to Ukraine's Azov division.

Claiming antisemitism motivated the action at Indigo is like claiming anti-Black racism motivated those who opposed the Rwandan genocide. While there were likely individual and isolated instances of discrimination, writing off the movement as inherently racist is disingenuous.

But naturally, this context is entirely absent from Brown's conversation with Reisman, and is instead focused on trying to interpret disciplined political action as indicating an underlying antisemitism in individuals.

We don't allow private Canadians to send financial support to Russian 'lone soldiers' to aid in their educational careers, because we don't allow material support for a belligerent country acting in violation of international law. In fact, we would likely sanction those doing so.

Any material support towards forces accused of committing genocide is a violation of UN members' obligations to prevent genocide. That this support is coming from a private citizen obliges the Canadian government to pursue criminal charges against Reisman.
November 19, 2025 at 3:39 PM
As for the conversation with Heather Reisman, the interview works to downplay Reisman's connection to and support of the IDF (an army plausibly accused of committing genocide) as "scholarships for lone soldiers".

So while not explicitly a "Zionist organization" (ie. lobbying orgs like CIJA), Statistics Canada, insofar as it is a part of the federal government, is committed to Zionism and therefore can be considered a Zionist organization.
November 19, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Jesse also claims that Statistics Canada is not a "Zionist organization". The Canadian government officially supports a two state solution, which is a Zionist position as it maintains that the state of Israel can continue to exist as is (ie/ a ethno-nationalist apartheid state).

I don't doubt Robinson has faced individual instances of antisemitism, as many Jewish people in Canada have, but these individual instances don't have the support of institutions and aren't systematized. Bias towards and hatred of Palestinians has institutional backing.
November 19, 2025 at 3:38 PM
What would be relevant to conversations on antisemitism is if Robinson's firing was part of a pattern of people losing their jobs for supporting Israel; however, the exact opposite is true - there is systematic pressure to fire people who speak in support of Palestinians.
November 19, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Regardless of whether the BC NDP has failed to fire other members who have expressed controversial opinions, Robinson's departure is 100% her responsibility. She said some horribly racist things, and found out the consequences.

Carney is paving the way for a far-right politics of grievance that will lead to the Liberal's downfall & the rise of neo-fascist political movements.

Fascism is (often) a reaction to a crisis of capital where the business class makes (un)comfortable bedfellows with social conservatism.

For the "buy Canadian" crowd out there: that $9 billion will primarily go to private weapons and defense manufacturers in the United States, at the expense of Canadian social services.

It really is shocking how this (and the prospect of a massive land war in Europe) is both so blatant and flying under the radar
