they also just stopped paying people if their tracks aren’t streamed enough

i never really understood using it for streaming, especially because releases being taken down means you can’t access them at all even if you paid for them (unlike how Steam works for video games)

the safe move is to download everything in lossless asap so you don’t get screwed over

i believe the launch of Notes is when the CEO went on record saying that he won’t ban nazis too. he’s in deep with the racist accelerationist types

very unfortunate that such a terrible platform became the standard for writers

i had trouble with this recently! i recorded a mix for a house party and the host couldn’t figure out how to play it o. google home

neither mobile os has a decent built in mp3 player either afaik, you need to manually sync to itunes for it to be decent on ios

my library is too big for my phone too

Nvidia also said that they’re into it iirc

i recently learned that they developed a trademarked bluetooth codec called “LDAC” which is actually a lossy way of delivering their hi-res snake oil

the letters don’t stand for anything, but it’s clearly supposed to be “Lossless Digital Audio Codec”. the marketing is incredibly dishonest
December 3, 2025 at 7:13 PM
i was specifically talking about the hi-res stuff, lossless is mentioned in the essay

i put part of the blame on Apple for audiophiles wanting this in the first place. it wasn’t a thing outside of dead formats like SACD until they started pushing it on itunes. Sony deserves a lot of blame too

i desperately need this movie to be based on Jon Lily’s sensory deprivation tank LSD hallucinations instead of the game inspired by them

that man was on so many drugs he thought aliens stole his dick

they're also telling us that AI it's gonna become Satan, but they're claiming that it's their competitors that are gonna build the Satan AI. or China.

the only word that i can muster to describe becoming obsessed with the theoretical scary future computer is "radicalized"

all these dudes hanging out with each other are redpilling themselves on "superintelligence"
December 3, 2025 at 5:46 PM
here's more details on the hi res snake oil bit from the guy who developed one of the biggest audio codecs. Apple has been trying to sell people who don't know how digital audio work on this bullshit for years and it's a complete waste of bandwidth to stream

ofc quitting spotify is good, but i wish that not using streaming services at all got mentioned as an option. it's not that hard to host your own Plex server or get an mp3 player

also the 24-bit/96 kHz "hi-res" audio quality that's advertised by Tidal and Qobuz is completely inaudible snake oil

LLMs are a subset of generative AI which is a subset of deep learning neural nets which are a subset of ML
