Sorry for confusion. LI here = “Low Income.” LIHEAP is the federal acronym for the program; NY shortens to HEAP. Money should be coming statewide as usual — about $400 million for the season if feds divvy up the national amount as usual.

Hi, I'm the friend. It's true - my power has been cut twice this year. Once in May and a second time last week, for non-payment. I pay what I can when I can, but more often than not, the bill is well into the hundreds of dollars each month, while I make about 38k a year.

Update: According to new data, NY’s major private utilities shut off service to 37,500+ customers in October, up from 22,750 last year, continuing the sharp upward trend since the pandemic. nysfocus.com/2025/11/15/t...
