Things are dark. I expect they will get far darker still. The light may remain obscured for a decade—or more.

But, for the first time in months, I can feel the lingering presence of genuine optimism.

Our angry robot overlords has a kind of bad ring to it. But let's hope we get the kinks out on the way. Lol

No tech debt! No need to look behind THOSE curtains ...

Oh sure, that's true. But each year at a 3% inflation rate you still gain 3k in original per 100k. So a 400k home you gained 12k in principal, the loan balance did not increase. Over time the loan balance is worth less in real terms. For most people even in a 30 year loan this is most significant.

I disagree that it's exactly like rent. You still have all the benefits of a fixed monthly payment (assuming no ARM fuckery) so you don't pay annual inflated rent cost of the land and home value itself. Even if you don't pay down much loan principal, the principal increases over time.

No kidding. Ran into an esoteric aws issue caused by the layers of aws bloat combined with a tech debt Jenkins script. No issues. I'll write a powershell script for you. An hour of debugging saved. Can't say it's always right but when it's right, it's literal magic.

Yeah that's because anything before today is history and anything in the past is the future. (Optimist view)

...sorry, Hal, I can't do that. Your developer level has been detected at only 1.

I feel this. So hard to motivate myself to both find and vet a recipe then to buy the inevitable random new ingredients from the store. And even with much hard work, there is significant risk that the result wasn't worth the effort.

This is just first generation technology. As we have seen from every other innovation, such as in fact early AI, this will evolve and become cheaper and more automated over time. The business model doesn't work even if you pay low wages with a human operator. It would cost far too much to operate.

Look, the math is very simple. 2 cloves? 4 cloves. 4 cloves? The whole head. There is no such thing as too much garlic. Only too little.

If it services a professional class that doesn't use public transit, then I suppose it then did replace cars for those professionals? I guess it's a logical answer though because for true public transit you'd need a lot more routes.
