I actually like "Bend Down the Branches." My husband, Abby's dad, only likes singers who can't sing, like Dylan and Waites. So to balance things out, I like singers like Josh Groban and Michael Bublee.

My family was driving from Topeka to Kansas City for Thanksgiving dinner. Someone thought it was a good idea to put a pumpkin pie on the floor of the backseat where I was sitting. 8 years old, of course I accidentally stepped in the pie. Every year after, Dad warned me not to put my foot in the pie.

On Thanksgiving 2005, we woke up to find a chocolate cream pie in a tupperware on the patio of my grandparents' apartment. We assumed it was a gift from the upstairs neighbors (grandma was recovering from surgery and getting lots of gift food) and devoured it. It was delicious. (Cont'd)

Kansan here. Growing up, I knew about relish trays. Gherkins, celery sticks, canned olives, carrot sticks. Nothing appealing at all but it made you look forward to the turkey.

This essay is wonderful. I enjoyed the comparison of 2 great movies. (I'm seeing Wake Up on Friday, but taking my daughter's word that it's excellent.)
