Also, I do not know for kotlin, but inlining may actually slow things in modern CPUs, because of all the complexities of RAM caches and CPU predictions.
I had some Go code where I inlined a function (by hand) occurring twice in a loop, and the loop was the twice slower than just calling a function.

Ah yes you are right. Tools working at the kotlin source level seem to work fine.
This leaves inconveniences only for runtime tools (debuggers, coverage, profiling), but nearly never visible in practice.
My bad. Too much C and Lisp in my young years :-)

It has an cost in form of limitations on advanced modern tools operating on the code other than compilers:
program proofs, advanced static analysis, IDEs, debuggers.
These "macro" features were present in old languages (lisp, C, ...) but abandoned for a reason.

Je suis en train de migrer à Qobuz. J'ai été surpris, ils ont pratiquement tous les artistes (très peu connu) que j'aime, alors que par exemple presque aucun n'est sur Deezer.
Le process de migration des playlist est par contre assez nul, je suis en train de me coder un outil pour compléter.
